Scope:

Development of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) IFC Design and As Constructed Drawings, Design reports and Design Basis Report for the Exit 45 ramp and traffic signal upgrade. This included coordination of ITS, traffic signal and lighting designs. Integrate was brought in fairly late in design delivery following loss of internal resources. Our team was responsible for accelerating the design delivery and ensuring requirements were clarified with TMR representatives so that the design would meet operations and maintenance objectives. The engagement included ITS placement, power, communications, and detailed layouts to integrate new monitoring infrastructure with existing motorway network ITS.

Key Activities:
  • System Design: Designed the configuration and layout for critical infrastructure including switchboards, node cabinets, field cabinets, CCTV cameras, Bluetooth units, and a radar on the mainline.
  • Infrastructure Integration: Designed the pit and conduit network, fibre splicing connections to the motorway backbone, and power connections to the Energex Power Network.
  • Cross-Discipline Coordination: Collaborated with signal, civil, and lighting disciplines throughout the project lifecycle to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Construction Support: Responded to various Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction to maintain design objectives and ensured adherence to technical specifications.
  • Documentation: Produced the final As-Constructed drawings reflecting the installed works.
Outcome:

Successful and rapid delivery of a fully integrated ITS solution at Exit 45, providing enhanced monitoring capabilities via CCTV, Bluetooth, and radar technologies while ensuring robust connectivity to the broader motorway control systems and power networks.
