Scope:

Research and reporting on emerging technology transport disruptors to ensure the City of Gold Coast is equipped to manage their impacts on future network operations. Following the development of the Network Intelligence and Transport Systems (NITS) plan, this engagement focused on identifying technologies with the greatest impact on network operations and providing practical recommendations for managing these impacts.

Four reports covering Electric Vehicles, Cooperative ITS and Connected & Automated Vehicles, Mobility as a Service, and Demand Responsive Transport were developed.

Key Activities:

• Regulatory Review: Outlined relevant legislative, regulatory, legal, and other mandatory requirements to ensure successful implementation of identified technologies.
• Policy Identification: Identified relevant policies, frameworks, guidelines, and technical specifications recommended for adoption.
• Timeline Update: Updated the City’s existing transport industry timeline detailing ITS trends and expected timeframes for adoption of new transport technologies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Presented reports to stakeholders, facilitated feedback sessions, and incorporated updates into final documentation.
• Recommendation Development: Translated research into practical recommendations aligned with current road network needs and budgetary constraints.

Outcome:

Successfully delivered all reports on time and within budget, receiving very positive feedback from senior stakeholders. The project provided actionable recommendations for the City’s forward network operations and ITS planning.
